Your Councillors

The council consists of 36 councillors representing 20 Wards.

Councillors can combine into political groups. The make up of the groups on the council is currently:

The West Lindsey Administration Group 30 (13 Conservatives, 11 Liberal Democrats, 3 Independent Councillors, 2 Lincolnshire Independents, and 1 Reform UK) and the West Lindsey Liberal Democrat Group 6 (5 Liberal Democrats and 1 Independent Councillor).

The Council annually also appoints to the Leader of Council and Depty Leader of Council Role and the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Council Roles the current appointments are:

Vice Chairman of the Council - Cllr Steven Bunney

To carry out its role and functions effectively, the council has set up appropriate political and officer structures to take and implement decisions and employs staff, building and financial resources.

Local Councillors are elected by the community to decide how the council should carry out its various activities. They represent public interest as well as individuals living within the ward in which he or she has been elected to serve a term of office.

They have regular contact with the general public through council meetings, telephone calls or surgeries. Surgeries provide an opportunity for any ward resident to go and talk their councillor face to face and these take place on a regular basis.

Councillors are not paid a salary for their work, but they do receive allowances. By law, all members of the Council are required to complete a declaration of interest form, the details of which are published annually.
